The Earthshot Prize 2022

PCAI selected as an official Nominator

The search for the winners of The Earthshot Prize 2022 has begun and upon invitation PCAI has been selected as an Official Nominator. Launched in 2020 and with the first incredible winners announced in October 2021, The Earthshot Prize is the most prestigious global environment prize in history, aiming to find new solutions to the world’s biggest environmental problems.

PCAI through its artistic director, Kika Kyriakakou, has become one of the organisations from across the world that were invited to submit nominations across all five Earthshot categories, selected for their ability to identify the most impactful solutions across all sectors, from grassroots to businesses. All organisations will be nominating individuals, communities, businesses and organisations whose solutions make the most progress towards achieving the five Earthshots –simple but ambitious goals which if achieved by 2030 will improve life for us all, for generations to come. The Earthshot Prize will consider solutions which make tangible progress towards one of the five Earthshots. They should be beyond idea stage, have tested their solution in-field or with target audiences, and are at a ‘tipping point’ for scaling their impact within the next five years. The Earthshots are

1. Protect and Restore Nature

2. Clean our Air

3. Revive our Oceans

4. Build a Waste-Free World

5. Fix our Climate

More about the Earthshot Prize

“The natural world on which we entirely depend is declining at a rate faster than at any time since the end of the dinosaurs. We know where this story is heading, and we must now write a different ending. This is what The Earthshot Prize was created to achieve.”

Sir David Attenborough

Launched by Prince William and The Royal Foundation in October 2020, The Earthshot Prize is the most prestigious global environment prize in history, designed to incentivise change and help repair our planet over the next ten years. The Prize aims to turn the current pessimism surrounding environmental issues into optimism, by highlighting the ability of human ingenuity to bring about change, and inspiring collective action.

Taking inspiration from President John F. Kennedy’s Moonshot which united millions of people around an organising goal to put man on the moon and catalysed the development of new technology in the 1960s, The Earthshot Prize is centred around five ‘Earthshots’ – simple but ambitious goals for our planet which if achieved by 2030 will improve life for us all, for generations to come.

The Earthshot Prize will award one million pounds to each of five annual winners whose solutions make the most progress towards our five Earthshots. The first winners were awarded in a glittering London Awards Ceremony in October 2021. Nominations will be subject to detailed assessment culminating in final selection by Prince William and The Earthshot Prize Council.
