Tilos Artist Residency: STORE film

at the 14th Chania Film Festival

PCAI is glad to announce that the film PCAI Tilos Artist Residency: Store directed by Ilias Madouros has been officially selected for the 14th Chania Film Festival (CFF), that will take place from the 21st October till the 1st Novenber 2026 in Chania, Greece.

The film unfolds the fifth edition of Tilos Artist Residency. PCAI in partnership with the British Council in the framework of the Circular Cultures (Making Matters) programme invited British artists STORE; a socially-engaged association of creative practitioners.

The Residency aims to explore how can circular economy principles inspire creativity, collaboration and regenerative thinking in architecture, design crafts, materials and urban design in a remote island.

PCAI Artist Residency programme was launched in 2022, as part of the Just Go Zero Tilos project powered by Polygreen, implemented in collaboration with the Municipality of Tilos. While the project intended Tilos to become the first zero waste island in the world, the PCAI’s artist-in-residence program explored possible environmental solutions using contemporary art and design as vehicles, in collaboration with the local community and with absolute respect for the history and cultural heritage of Tilos.

Ilias Madouros is a filmmaker and visual artist based in Athens. His work explores time, the breadth of culture(s), and human presence within specific social and historical contexts, maintaining a sustained focus on the extended Mediterranean region, balancing independent projects with commissioned work for institutions and private initiatives.

STORE is a socially-engaged association of creative practitioners. STORE’s goal is to support more young people from underrepresented backgrounds applying to creative courses, and addressing the social imbalance in art, design and architecture education.

Chania Film Festival (CFF) is an international film festival starting from Chania. An event that quickly became an institution with international collaborations, with invitations of creators, with many parallel events, with recognition and acceptance.

A film institution that aspires to host the best of the cinema, both from Greece and abroad. A creative, intrusive and above all restless institution. A meeting place for fiction, documentary, animation films. A celebration of the 7th art.
