PCAI’s new educational workshop The Green House, will take place on September 23 and 24 at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, as part of the Green Weekend 2023. The Southern Walks of the SNFCC Park will turn into an open laboratory for young kids from 6 to 12 years old.
The workshop is inspired by the vertical gardens, an alternative approach to the ordinary garden that can provide a green oasis in the urban texture. Young participants are invited to work together in a team and collaborative spirit in order to create their own sculpture, their own “green home” in the public space, exploring sustainable practices on how our cities can become greener.
The young artists-gardeners will be introduced to the concept of art in the public space, but also to an alternative proposal for the creation of “green lungs” in the urban environment. At the same time, the kids will become familiar with the aromatic plants of the Stavros Niarchos Park that will be the “building materials” of the workshop. At the end of the two-day event, The Green House invites young and old to visit it and think differently about the existence of green spaces, not only in the public space but also on the terraces, balconies, and other common areas of urban housing. The workshop is designed and implemented by Vassia Magoula and Vicky Tsirou.
