Oh, tranquility! Penetrating the very rock, A cicada’s voice exhibition and performances
The programme unraveled through commissioned performances and an exhibition inspired by Dimitris Pikionis’ environmental concerns, expressed through his essays Gaia’s Atimosis (1954) and Sentimental Topography (1935), as well as his architectural and artistic work. All performances and activities took place in the former Pikionis pavilion in Delphi, a recently restored monument of modern architecture designed by the leading Greek architect and his son, Petros Pikionis, in the late 1950s. Visual artists, architects, poets, sopranos, designers and performers were invited to create new works in dialogue with the refurbished Pikionis landmark and the unique heritage and natural landscape of Delphi. The programme, curated by Kika Kyriakakou, PCAI artistic director, includeded works by Angelo Plessas, Anna Pangalou, HOPE, Digitaria, Phoebe Giannisi,  Zissis Kotionis, Natalia Papadopoulou, Serapis Maritime, Kostadis, VASKOS (Vassilis Noulas & Kostas Tzimoulis). The programme was realised in the framework of the 2023 programme of the Ministry of Culture “All of Greece One Culture” institution. The production was part of the programme “All of Greece One Culture”2023 of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and was supported by Amalia Hotel (Hospitality Partner) and Muses Estate (Wine Sponsor).

A Letter from Yene Greek Premiere and Discussion between Manthia Diawara and Hans Ulrich Obrist
Diawara’s recent film is a Polygreen Culture & Art Initiative (PCAI), Serpentine and MUBI co-commission created in the context of Serpentine’s Back to Earth programme. Diawara’s documentary unfolds as if it were a letter written to the viewer. In A Letter from Yene, the filmmaker is not only the storyteller, but also the owner of one of the houses along the beach. Following encounters between fishermen, pebble collectors and himself, Diawara explores how their intersecting lives collectively and unknowingly contribute to the undermining of their shared environment. A Letter from Yene premiered in Athens in April 2023 at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, followed by a fruitful discussion between Hans Ulrich Obrist, Serpentine’s artistic director, and the artist.

ICHTHYOLATRY Performance Premiere in Athens.
ICHTHYOLATRY: A hybrid performance of Water Deities is a research-based performance conceived and directed by Eva Giannakopoulou. The performance is inspired by the theorist Astrida Neimanis’ book “Bodies of Water”, who coined the concept of Hydrofeminism, according to which water, femininities, embodied practices and ecology are interconnected creating “new” future synergies. The performance premiered in Athens (2023), was presented in Teatro Cine (Portugal), Oxto (Greece), and in the Thessaloniki Biennale. It is a co-production between PCAI, Artemrede (Portugal – in collaboration with the Municipality of Torres Vedras) and L’Arboreto (Italy) in the context of the Stronger Peripheries Programme, financially supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
