For the 2025 Tilos Artist Residency edition PCAI in partnership with the British Council in the framework of the Circular Cultures (Making Matters) programme invited British artists STORE; a socially-engaged association of creative practitioners.
STORE’s goal is to support more young people from underrepresented backgrounds applying to creative courses, and addressing the social imbalance in art, design and architecture education. The way they connect education, creativity and collectivity aligns with the vision and the philosophy of the Tilos Artist Residency.
During the residency the collective collaborated with the islanders, the municipality, and the local primary school students, embracing the sustainable philosophy of the island creatively and playfully. As part of their residency, STORE organized a series of open studios and workshops that culminated during an open event held in the Tilos main square at Livadia, featuring hats crafted from recycled textiles, dyed with natural ingredients like onion skins and eucalyptus leaves, and decorated with patterns designed by Tilos’s elementary students.
STORE mention “Getting involved in the local community and visiting the primary school was a proud moment. Teaching children about different patterns was something very interesting. Every day they see all these patterns, but it turns out to them, it’s not as eye-catching as we though. And seeing the excitement in their ayes when they were unfolding the paper patterns was really special as well.”

The 2025 Tilos Artist Residency is a collaboration between PCAI and British Council, within the framework of Circular Cultures (Making Matters) — organised as part of Polygreen’s ongoing collaboration with the Municipality of Tilos.
Just Go Zero Tilos, an innovative environmental project, powered by Polygreen, was launched in 2022 on the island aiming to develop solutions that promote circular economy and sustainability, and made Tilos the first zero-waste island in Greece.
