PCAI and Pi in Delphi hosted Flux Laboratory’s Danceology/ Anadisis. Danceology is a collaboration with the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece (ESAG) and researcher Dr. Sophie Bocksberger, an innovative project combining dance and archaeology. This experimental initiative aims to explore the relationship between movement, history, philosophy, and ancient poetry through a contemporary performance.
The first presentation of the Danceology project, themed Dance and Poetry, took the form of a performance titled Anadisis/Ανάδυση, created by choreographer Stavros-Alexandros Ikbal. This piece was presented on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Pi (former Pikionis Pavilion) in Delphi, during the annual symposium of the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece (ESAG). The project focuses on the artistic dialogue between dance and poetry, drawing inspiration from Dr. Sophie Bocksberger’s research on dance in ancient Greece.
Anadisis/Ανάδυση
Movement is born from silence. A figure awakens, like a sculpture coming to life. Speech becomes rhythm, rhythm becomes step, and the body resonates like poetry.
Amid shifting spaces, the procession crosses the landscape, captivating both eye and ear.
Music hovers—at times still, at times wandering—marking the transition from the prosaic to the poetic, from simple motion to ecstasy.
In the end, shapes and sounds imprint themselves in memory, like the echo of a hymn that never fades.
