PCAI x BRITISH COUNCIL GREECE

STORE IN TILOS ARTIST RESIDENCY

STORE is the selected artist group for the 2025 innovative environmental programme on the island of Tilos, Greece.

The Tilos Artist Residency programme, now in its fourth consecutive year on the island of Tilos, continues to thrive. For the 2025 edition, PCAI maintains its collaboration with the British Council through the Circular Cultures (Making Matters) programme, welcoming British artists STORE to lead this year’s residency.
Between September 29 and October 8, STORE will be on the island, aiming to explore potential environmental solutions through the perspective of artistic creativity and the tools that art offers.

STORE is a socially-engaged association of creative practitioners. STORE’s goal is to support more young people from underrepresented backgrounds applying to creative courses, and addressing the social imbalance in art, design and architecture education. STORE will be represented by Kevin Green (STORE’s project manager/ residency lead), Oyin Falade (Young Trustee, a Fine Art student that explores various ideologies through sculpture and performance), Elisa Heath (project manager), Yusuf Uddin (Young Trustee, a Visual Effects artist and works within creative outreach) and Ella Markes (project manager, an architectural designer and educator).

The Tilos residency aims to explore how the principles of upcycling, zero waste and circular economy can inspire creativity, collaboration and regenerative thinking in architecture, design crafts, materials and urban design. More specifically, during their residency, STORE will have the opportunity to research further the awarded circular economy programme implemented on the island from 2022. In collaboration with the island’s Municipality, the schools and the people of Tilos, the artists intend to create a community-based work of art that will remain on the island as the outcome of their research. Similar footprints take the form of artworks, design items and fanzines were created by Hypercomf, The New Raw, Resolve and PoOR during their residencies.

The Tilos Artist Residency is organised in the context of Polygreen’s collaboration with the Municipality of Tilos.

Just Go Zero Tilos, an innovative environmental project, powered by Polygreen, was launched in 2022 on the island aiming to develop solutions that promote circular economy and sustainability, and made Tilos the first zero-waste island in Greece.

More about STORE

STORE is an association of artists, architects and designers working between London and Rotterdam towards a common goal: supporting more young people from underrepresented backgrounds applying to creative courses, and addressing the social imbalance in art, design and architecture education. STORE projects comprise three core elements: an educational programme, socially engaged practice and diverse public events. In our educational programme, young people learn with practicing artists and designers to discover and develop their creative talents, learn practical skills, grow confidence and build portfolios in art and design. They organise a wide range of public events. STORE exists to facilitate the sharing of design skills and knowledge between experienced practitioners, aspiring students and the general public. They are working to ensure that the next generation of architects, artists and designers better reflect the communities they work for and live in. As a Community Interest Company STORE’s associates apply their knowledge and skills to projects that directly address current socio-economic challenges.
