Music by Bill Kouligas
PCAI commission on the occasion of The Last Museum exhibition (Athens Edition), a partnership between PCAI and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art.
Face-resembling sculptural appearances inhabit the entropic spaces of an industrial ghost site in the coastal mine city of Laurium, a place which was recently leaked to be the future location of a data center complex to be built by one of the so-called “Big Five” multinational information technology corporations. The metallic materiality of the sculptures reflects the local geological heritage and the mineral composition of the electronic hardware that enables the uncanny machinic intelligence of computational operations. The decaying rooms of the derelict factory are permeated by a haunting soundtrack by Bill Kouligas, and become infiltrated by synthetic language generated by predictive algorithmic models.
